Having no qualms around his desire to be a Rolex-wearing pop and rap star, Cex's euphony actually lies in the lines of healthy dance music. At the age of 19, Rjyan Kidwell already had a catalog of releases and a record pronounce behind him. His offbeat and extraordinary personality splashed a large dash of colouring across a subgenre of techno that is often savorless and besides mechanical. In 1998, Kidwell started Underscore Records and released a triad of CD-Rs, one by him and deuce by friends. Only 600 of the CD-Rs were made and only when granted to a smattering of friends and sold to a few distributors. With the label, he released deuce more than singles, and finally place it to rest to start another label, Tigerbeat 6, with San Francisco's Kid 606. Slowly the label stirred to the head of the San Francisco IDM setting, as with Orthlorng Musork and L.A.'s Plug Research. Continuing his bar of obscure salutary fortune, Cex released an applauded full-length, Roll Model, in August 2000. His bulge culture goofiness is seen with such songs titles as "Academy Award (Cex's Radio Edit)" and "Wallstreet Kid." He has likewise been included on compilations such as Ricci's Pieces (on Mindfield) and Kid606 and Friends, Vol. 1 (on Tigerbeat). He has likewise recorded for Stewart Anderson's label, 555 Recordings of Leeds. In 2000, he toured with Kid 606, Gold Chains, and Blectdum from Blechdom, wowing audiences with his energetic, amusing record. The changeless touring as well helped support his 2001 outlet, Starship Galactica. Cex only continued problematic expectations by undermentioned a 2001 electronic pop LP (Oops, I Did It Again!) with a record named Marvellous, Dark & Handcuffed, indebted to the prosperous age of hip-hop. Existence Ridden appeared in 2003 (in both a regular and instrumental version) earlier Cex made his Jade Tree debut in the strike of that same twelvemonth with Maryland Mansions. The Live Doubt EP followed in 2005 and the charmingly titled Existent Fucking was issued by Automation Records a year later.
