Web clips stall Hollywood talks

Talks between US acting unions and the major studios are said to have stalled over payment structures for internet video clips.
The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and the studios met to agree a vital new contract last week but negotiations broke down on Tuesday, feeding fears that actors will take an action similar to the writers' strike that saw many big US shows temporarily cease production.
According to Reuters, the studios want the right "to freely distribute internet clips of old TV shows and movies without seeking actors' permission and pay them a flat fee rather than bargain a price with each performer individually."
After the breakdown, SAG president Alan Rosenberg said: "What they're asking us to do is erase 50 years of our customs and practice."
