Performed on 'The Daily Show'
NEW YORK, June 24 -- Coldplay will perform on the Emmy(R)
and Peabody(R) Award-winning "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" tomorrow
(June 25) at 11:00 p.m. (ET/PT). This mark's only the third time that "The
Daily Show" has invited a musical act to perform on the show, with previous
appearances by "The White Stripes," who performed on December 1, 2005, and
Tom Waits, who performed on November 28, 2006. Coldplay's performance will
be available online the following day at http://www.thedailyshow.com.
Coldplay's appearance on "The Daily Show" comes on the heels of the
band's recent release of its latest album, "Viva La Vida" (Capitol Music
Group), which went on sale on June 17. The band will launch their "Viva La
Vida" North American tour at The Forum in Los Angeles on July 14. To
celebrate the "Viva La Vida" tour and album, Coldplay has already performed
free concerts in London (June 16) and Barcelona (June 17) and last night at
Madison Square Garden in New York City. The complete tour itinerary can be
found at http://www.coldplay.com or at http://www.livenation.com.
"The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" was launched in the summer of 1996.
The nightly news satire takes a reality-based look at news, trends, pop
culture, current events, politics, sports, entertainment and the media. In
each show, Stewart and a team of correspondents, including Samantha Bee,
Wyatt Cenac, Jason Jones, Aasif Mandvi, John Oliver and Rob Riggle, comment
on the day's stories employing actual news footage, taped field pieces,
in-studio guests and on-the-spot coverage of important news events.
Jon Stewart and David Javerbaum are the executive producers of "The
Daily Show with Jon Stewart" with Rory Albanese, Kahane Corn and Josh Lieb
serving as co-executive producers. The series' head writer is Steve Bodow.
Chuck O'Neil is the director.
Each episode of "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" repeats at 1:00 a.m.
the same night and at 10:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. the following
day. Individual clips and full episodes are available at
