Puerto Rican rock quadruplet Puya was formed in the early '90s. After playing covers at San Juan's clubhouse circuit, the ring moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL, looking for a record deal. That opportunity came after meeting Latin rock producer Gustavo Santaolalla, soon, signing up to MCA. In October of 1998, Puya's first base record was released, followed by Fundamental in January of 1999. Performing an interesting concoction of rock 'n' roll and Latin rhythms, Puya became a top-selling act in the john Rock en español scene. In 2001, its irregular album, called Unión, was released.
